Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb Reduced Lifespan

By Mark J. Donovan

Compact Fluorescent light bulb reduced lifespan can occur for several reasons, but one of the chief reasons is due to turning the compact fluorescent light bulb on and off frequently. In particular, if the compact fluorescent light bulb is turned on for only 5 minutes at a time, the compact fluorescent light bulb lifespan can be reduced by as much as 85%.

In addition, voltage variations, or voltage spikes can also shorten a compact fluorescent light bulb lifespan.

Finally, as with any light bulb it is sensitive to mechanical shock. It is important to carefully install the compact fluorescent light bulb so that it is not banged or hit or dropped while transporting it or installing it.
